Northern Uganda leader expresses hope that progress toward peace can continue, despite setbacks
Following Joseph Kony's decision to abandon the peace process, much speculation has been made as to what will happen next.
While there has been an increasing shift toward possible military action and some seem to be losing hope in the negotiations, Gulu district chairman Norbert Mao yesterday expressed hope that the peace process may still continue. Mao also called for recognition of the accomplishments of the peace process over the past two years, saying, "A lot of positive things have been put in the peace process; the international observers have been brought on board, and people have been moving freely in the region since the cessation of the hostilities agreement was signed.
