Lobby Days for Northern Uganda - largest lobbying initiative ever for Africa!
Nearly 1,000 people from all across America and the world descended on D.C. this week as part of the 2008 Lobby Days for Northern Uganda and took part in the largest lobbying initiative ever for an African issue.
At perhaps the most critical juncture ever in the course of this conflict, concerned citizens brought their passion for peace directly to the doorsteps of their members of Congress and pushed forward the agenda for an end to this war. On Tuesday, February 26th, nearly 250 meetings took place between Congressional offices and their constituents, with achieving peace in Uganda as the one and only item on the agenda.
The turnout was overwhelming and the enthusiasm inspiring. Clad in bright green t-shirts, these "lobbyists" ensured that our concerns were being heard and helped to make sure that our foreign policy represents our values. Backed up by thousands of you making phone calls, we can be sure that our message was delivered.
Way to go!
