House Party One Hundred

House Party One Hundred

Hosting a house party is a simple thing that can make a big difference. You can help create new momentum to end the war in Uganda just by inviting a few people over. We have two simple goals for these house parties:

  1. Grow the movement for peace by sharing the story of what's happening in Uganda
  2. Raise $100 at each party to help achieve peace for the kids who have been waiting for so long.

Here are all the details you need to make your house party a success:

Pre-party:

  • Register your event: In case you haven't done that yet, you can click here to register your event through Resolve Uganda
  • Get a copy of War/Dance: You can't really host a screen filming without a film to screen. If you're a Netflix member, you can add the film to your queue, or you can get it at your local Blockbuster (you can't order it online, but you can get it in person). If you want to have a copy to keep, you can download it or buy it from Amazon. You can also find out more about the film by clicking here.
  • Invite your people: Just as you can't have a film screening without a film, you can't have a house party without people. You should have gotten an invite email template to send when you registered your event.
  • Refreshments?: If you want to, you can think about serving food and/or drinks at your event. You could also consider asking some of guests to bring something.

Get the party started!:

  • Meet & Greet: Get your people gathered and do some introductions in case they don't know each other. No awkward ice breakers necessary.
  • Watch the DVD: This one is pretty self-explanatory. You might want to have some Kleenex on hand.
  • Get people to sign up: You can either collect people's email addresses and contact information and send them to our office (address below) or just pull the Resolve Uganda homepage up on your computer or laptop and have people sign up online while they're there. Click here to download a sign up sheet you can use!
  • Talk about the importance of donating: Our strategy to help these kids and end the war can ony succeed with the financial support of people who believe in it and want to help too. Encourage your guests to give money either on the website (www.resolveuganda.org/donate) or by writing a check at the event.

Keep the party going:

  • Send in the donations/sign-ups: You can send any contact information/donations you collect to our office. The address is: Resolve Uganda, 211 8th St. NE - Studio, Washington DC 20002
  • Tell us what happened: We'd love to hear/see what happened at your house party and publicize event success stories on our blog. You can send any photos/event summaries to info@resolveuganda.org.
  • Keep on goin': You can keep telling the story even after your party is over. Click on our 50 State Strategy page to find out about other ways you can be involved with efforts for peace.
